Apple Rose Tarts
Hi Dolls! I wanted to share my latest recipe obsession with my fabulous gals. I mean seriously! How cute are these?! I made them for the family at Easter and someone said… and I quote “These are the best things I’ve ever tasted… since birth” haha Perfect for baby showers, parties and of course Mother’s Day which is around the corner. They will be a hit and they’re super easy & FUN to make!
Apple Rose Tarts
Makes a dozen tarts
Preparation time: 10-15 minutes
Baking time: 40 minutes
Ingredients
- 4 red apples
- Bowl of tap water
- Juice of 1/2 a lemon
- 1 tablespoon apricot jam or apple butter mixed with 1 tablespoon water
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- Plain flour to roll
- Non stick spray or butter for brushing
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon sugar
- Optional cinnamon sugar or confectioners sugar for dusting
Directions
1) Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Start thawing out the puff pastry in the fridge if it is a hot day or on the counter if it is a cold day.
2) Add the lemon juice to the water.
3) Cut the apples in half and core them and make sure to leave the skin on.
4) Slice the apples thinly as pictured and place them in the bowl of lemon water.
5) Microwave the apples until pliable where you can bend them but they aren’t mushy.
6) Start with three minutes and go from there. Drain the apples and run cold water over them so that they aren’t too hot.
7) Spray a regular sized muffing or cupcake tin with oil or brush with butter (do it generously so that it doesn’t stick).
8) Flour a clean surface and roll out the puff pastry lengthways in a rectangle.
9) Cut into 6 long pieces 2 inches wide.
10) Spread with desired jam.
11) Line up the apple slices half up the piece of pastry so that they slightly overlap each other.
12) Fold over the pastry so that the bottom half of the apples slices are covered.
13) Then start rolling it up from one side to form a flower.
14) Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
15) Bake for 30-40 minutes until the pastry in the centre is cooked. Serve with ice cream.
